A note from director Topaz Adizes
My objective in creating these films was to create a space for conversation between the students watching the films and their teachers, friends, and family about American identity, freedom, and your personal relationship to the United States and the world. I wanted to explore opinions of America from various perspectives: What does the U.S. mean to American boys enlisting in the army? What does the U.S. mean to a Hiroshima survivor? A Serbian? A Cuban? A Muslim taxi driver? And ultimately, what does the United States mean to you? By watching these films and discussing them, you will be participating in a personal and communal shaping of this great country we live in. Thank you so much. And enjoy!
